Dinghy Sailing at Saltash

DinghiesSaltash Sailing Club is a friendly family based club and is an excellent venue for dinghy sailors whether you are a beginner or an experienced sailor.  Sailing is possible at all states of the tide.  The Club runs a popular cadets night each Friday throughout the season (fortnightly through the winter), which is a lot of fun, gives the youngsters a comprehensive grounding (various levels of RYA qualifications dependent on how far they wish to go) and takes them up to racing standard.  The Club recognises that learning sailing is not always so easy for Mums and Dads and we are also looking at helping the (slightly) older novice!

Saltash provides excellent competitive sailing and welcomes anyone who wishes Dinghiesto race.  Many of our young sailors achieve very highly at both South West and National level, for example, the 2009 youth National Laser champion, Phil Reynolds, is a Saltash sailor.

The major racing fleets in our Classic Cooker series on Tuesday evenings are Laser 1, Laser 2 and Toppers. However we have a wide spectrum of other dinghies out each week from Finns, International Canoes, National 12s, GP14s, Mirrors, RS Visions, Fevas and many others.

The first series for dinghies starts on 6 April on Tuesday evenings.  Tuesday sailing continues through the year until 14 September when we then have Saturday morning racing run jointly with Tamar River Sailing Club.

During June we host a dinghy racing weekend as part of the Saltash Town regatta celebrations.  Make a date in your diary and come and join us – Saturday and Sunday 19-20 June 2010.!
