Started sailing in a Mirror class dinghy at the age of 12 at Looe Sailing Club progressing to crewing in Enterprise, Redwing and 470 classes dinghies, eventually owning and helming a Fireball dinghy which I entered club racing as well as Area and National Championships. Whilst at Looe SC I was a committee member and Race Officer for several National Championships and the Enterprise World championships (1986) in Looe.

On joining Saltash Sailing Club, racing continued in dinghies and crewing on various yachts, with visits to local regattas, as well as the Cork regatta until eventually owning a Trapper 300 yacht in 2008. I continue to race within the Club, Port and South West events.

Dinghy sailing at Saltash included, Laser 2 class for several years, Fireball and the ISO class, where attended the World Championships in France, and currently club racing in a RS400.
