Social Committee

The Social Committee’s role is to organise a social programme for members and for some events, friends and family are also welcome.  The Programme starts after the Autumn Sailing Forum, usually mid-September, with regular Thursday evening talks linked or loosely linked to sailing, boating, the sea, the River Tamar, the environment and other aspects of relevant interest to our membership.  If you or someone you know would be willing to offer a talk please contact Catherine our club administrator.

Having recently completed the Winter Programme and Spring Draw the Social Committee is taking a break whilst the sailing season is in full swing.  We make a brief summer appearance at the Town Regatta when we serve our popular cream teas on the club’s veranda. This is an excellent way to take a rest and relax whilst watching events happening around the club and on the river and we hope members, friends and family will join us for this again this year.

The website ‘Events Calendar’ will keep you informed of sailing related fixtures throughout the summer months together with advanced notification of autumn and winter events.

We are already planning the Autumn Programme dates for our annual Fitting Out Supper; Town Band, Mince Pie and Grand Christmas Draw Evening; Members Entertainment Evening; and a variety of other festive events, including the Happy Hours leading up to the New Year’s Eve Party on the 31st December.

The Winter Programme will be on the website from the end of December starting with the Annual RNLI Quiz in early January which is run by the extremely active RNLI fundraising committee attached to the club.

We are very fortunate to have John and Tina as our house caterers who as well as providing hearty meals after the racing, organise amazing Sunday lunches and truly scrumptious food for our Supper and Dinner events.  Whilst this is primarily for our members, family and friends are welcome to accompany them by signing the Club’s Visitors Register (terms and conditions apply).

In the meantime we wish you all a fantastic safe and successful sailing season.
