Social Committee

Autumn Newsletter

Your Social Committee, working closely with Management Committee, has been extremely busy putting together the Club's Social Programme and Calendar for the coming Autumn and whilst some boats are not quite laid up yet, the Autumn Social Programme has already started.  You should have by now received a copy via email to print off and keep for quick reference.   You will notice that we have introduced some changes to the format this year, much due to having to adapt to strict Covid restrictions over the last Autumn and Winter whilst we are unable to have our usual Thursday evening speakers.  These changes proved a great success during that time and provided a haven for members to come along to the club to enjoy socials Quizzes on a Tuesday and Supper Evenings on a Thursday.

So successful was this format, and partly in preparation should another lockdown or set of restrictions be again introduced, that Management and Social decided to continue with them as a trial this Autumn, albeit every other week.  The intervening weeks will see the return of our Thursday evening talks and Bingo, yes Bingo every other Tuesday.  Why not make Tuesdays an evening when you can bring family and friends to the club for a' midweek light hearted get together'.  You never know you might just enjoy it, so give it a try.

This format is a trial and if successful will continue to run again in tandem with our usual post-Christmas events which includes the annual RNLI Quiz, Burns Night, in January, Valentines Night and Cruisers Dinner in February concluding the Winter Programme with the traditional Fitting Out Supper in March.

Whilst we appreciate that not all of you are in Autumn mode quite yet please keep taking a look at the Autumn Programme as it is packed with dates and events not to be missed.  Booking early for Sunday Lunches and Fine Dining Evenings is always advisable as these fill up quite quickly.   Thursday Supper Nights every other week are ideal for getting your crews together or for just a quiet supper with like minded people.  What could be better no cooking or washing up or should we say loading the dishwasher?

Wednesdays and what was a busy Cadet night during the summer months on Fridays turn into a quiet times during winter months and again another ideal time for bringing family and friends in for cosy get togethers.  Don't forget to sign them in, although if attending regularly it is advisable to become an Associate Member..

Whatever the reason for visiting the club you can be assured of good company and good food.  John our caterer is exceptional  and a true asset to the club, if you have yet to come to a Sunday Lunch or one of our supper/dinner events you are missing out.

As the Programme progresses we hope to see more and more of you taking the opportunities on offer after all it is YOUR club so please make the most of what is on offer to you as a member.
