James Mills

Commodore

I started 35 years ago as an 11 year old sailing club cadet and now find myself as one of the three senior dinghy instructors in the cadet section and have been instructing at Saltash for the last 7 years.

In that 35 years I have owned a Jeanneau Sunfast and done a lot of racing with the Muskox crew, including several Fastnet races, Cowes, Round the Island, Cork, Dartmouth, Antigua week and BVI Spring Regatta.

Until recently I was also racing an RS400 on Tuesday nights.

Married to Julie with 3 kids (1 of whom is a club dinghy instructor), we now like to charter for additional family time.

During the summer months, I can be found at the club most nights of the week either volunteering with the cadets, dinghy sailing or yacht racing or tinkering with boats.

My interests are around the long term prosperity of the club and the continual improvement.

I also have a passion for facilitating sailing for the cadet section and for new members who will be the future of the club.

If you see me around, do say hi; I’m always happy to hear member’s views and ideas.
