Tyler Twister 28 for Sale – “Valkyrie”.

The opportunity has arisen to purchase this “modern classic”, Holman designed, Tyler Twister 28, currently moored on the River Tamar in Southeast Cornwall.
She is ready for the sailing season, having been wintered and maintained ashore.

Twisters have a well-earned reputation for seaworthiness in even the most challenging offshore conditions and have safely completed long distance blue water passages.

Constructed of “Tuffglas”, a fibreglass material reputedly impervious to osmosis, the hull was laid up in 1983 and fitting out completed in 1986.
The original purchaser changed their mind and sold the hull and deck to the previous owner (and then named “Corwyns”), she has a known provenance; indeed, she has been wintered ashore at the same Cornish sailing club since completion of build.

The heavy-duty storage cradle is included in the sale, with yard storage pre-paid until October 2025.

Whilst “home completed”, structural and other work was carried out professionally by a local boatyard.
This includes two tonnes of lead being resin bonded into a fully encapsulated keel.
The original build certificate, receipts and copious other paperwork have been retained, the previous owner having been fastidious in that regard.
She has been updated over time and this continues, with a new spray hood fitted in winter 2025 plus internal improvements.

Valkyrie has been lightly used for cruising the Devon and Cornwall coasts. To the best of my knowledge, other than an occasional “white sails” event, she has never been seriously raced.

The hull is antifouled using semi-commercial Jotun Cu-Pro, which has provided excellent protection over the full sailing season.
Paintwork is Jotun commercial Topcoat over Jotun Vinyguard primer.

The original Yanmar 2GM engine was replaced with a Beta 20 three cylinder, supplied and fitted by Fowey Harbour Marine in 2009, complete with new prop shaft, propeller and fittings.
The previous owner estimated that this new engine had fewer than 500 hours use at the time of sale to me in 2021.
In 2021, the propeller was re-pitched and balanced with very positive results.
The engine has benefitted from professional servicing and winterising.
